KidQuest is an app where children tick off daily chores and collect food for a pet that grows. Parents set up the chores and manage the family and the children's pocket money.
This page describes what data the app processes and why. It is written to be readable — if anything is unclear, I would like to hear about it.
The data controller is:

| Data | About whom | Why |
|---|---|---|
| Name | Adults and children | So family members recognise each other in the app. A first name is enough. |
| Email address | Adults only | Signing in and resetting the password. Children have no email address in the app. |
| Password | Adults only | Signing in. Never stored in plain text, only as a cryptographic hash. |
| Device key | Everyone | Keeps the device signed in. Stored encrypted on the phone and not included in backups. |
| Chores and completions | Children | The feature itself: what needs doing and what has been done. |
| Points and pets | Children | The reward system. |
| Pocket money | Children | Balance, savings goals and expenses that the parent records. This is bookkeeping of numbers, not real money or a bank account. |
| Language and currency | Adults and children / the family | Which language the app is shown in, if you have chosen one, and which currency the family's pocket money is shown in. |
| Purchase history | The family | If the family has a subscription: that it is valid. |
The app asks for camera access for one reason only: to read the QR code that links a child's phone to the family. The image never leaves the phone and nothing is saved. The code is read directly in the app.
The parent creates the child's account and decides which name is used. The child never signs up on their own and gives no email address. The data about a child is the name, the chores, the points, the pet and the pocket money — nothing else.
If you would rather use a nickname instead of the child's real name, the app works exactly the same.
A family's data is visible within the family. No other family can see it. In addition, the following providers are used to run the service:
| Provider | What |
|---|---|
| Railway | Servers and the database where the data is stored. |
| Resend | Sends emails when a password is reset. |
| RevenueCat | Handles subscription status for families who pay. |
| Apple and Google | Distribute the app and take payment for purchases. They are the seller to the customer; payment details never pass through KidQuest. |
For as long as the family uses the app. If you delete the account, everything is removed — see Delete account (in Swedish). Accounting records for completed purchases may need to be kept longer because the law requires it, but they concern the payment, not the family's content.
Under the General Data Protection Regulation (GDPR) you have the right to know what data is processed about you, to have it corrected, to have it deleted, to receive it in a readable format and to object to the processing.
Get in touch at support@kidquest.se and I will help you. If you are not happy with how a request is handled, you have the right to complain to the Swedish Authority for Privacy Protection (IMY) or to the data protection authority where you live.
If this policy changes, the date at the top is updated. If the change matters for how data is processed, families are informed in the app.
